Rohan Gakhar and Karanvir Rana steered Mahajan Club to victory over National Club by seven runs in the second match (U-14 category) of the Cricket Tournament for the Mahajan Trophy being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association at GRD Academy on Hambran Road here on Thursday.

Rohan excelled with the bat and ball (34 runs and 4 for 11 runs) while Karanvir chipped in with four wickets for 19 runs to fashion a thrilling win.

Batting first, after winning the toss, Mahajan Club scored 116 runs in 40 overs in which the main scorer was Roahn Gakhar who made 34 runs. Kabir and Kanishk contributed six runs each.

For National Club, Arshdeep Singh was the most successful bowler who grabbed three wickets for 23 runs while Hasanjeet and Pragun secured two wickets each after giving away six and 13 runs, respectively.

National Club began their chase on a sound note and it seemed that they would achieve the target as Sandeep and Jaskaran played fine innings of 52 and 25 runs, respectively, but their innings folded at 109 runs in the last over.

For the winning side, Rohan Gakhar and Karanvir Rana shared the bowling honours, taking eight wickets between them while Anmol took one wicket for 15 runs.

Rohan Gakhar and Sandeep shared the man of the match award.
