Given the way Mitchell Starc’s career has panned out in the last couple of years or so, it would not be too wrong to say that he is not considered too effective in ODIs and T20Is at the moment. While there is absolutely no denying the talent that the Australia star has, it is just that he has not played too many white-ball games in recent months.

The left-arm pacer has not really built upon the  success of 2015 when he spearheaded Australia’s attack during the victorious campaign in the World Cup. In the buildup to this year’s World Cup, Starc did not play ODIs regularly as Australia tried to manage his workload. He, however, did extremely well in the competition by picking up 27 wickets and helping his team make it to the semifinal.

He is also having a fine summer at the moment and has picked up 8 wickets in five T20Is against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. What was more impressive was his economy-rate of 6.63. And as Mitchell Starc continues to impress, Australia head coach Justin Langer has hailed him as the best in the world.

“He’s brilliant. He is probably the world’s best white-ball cricketer, certainly (best) white-ball bowler. He is so good at the death. He led the wickets in the World Cup, we just know what a great bowler he is,” said Langer.

Starc, along with Kane Richardson and Sean Abbott helped Australia beat Pakistan by ten wickets in the third T20I. The bowlers restricted the visitors for a paltry total of 106 for 8 before David Warner and Aaron Finch chased it down 49 balls to spare. With the win, Australia continued their incredible run in the shortest format of the game this season. They are yet to lose a game at home this summer and will next take on Pakistan in the two-match Test series.
