Former India skipper MS Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the series against Bangladesh after missing West Indies and South Africa series. Reports say that the veteran cricketer is giving the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) time to groom Rishabh Pant and his back-ups for the World T20.

After missing out on the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales, Team India will set their eyes on the ICC World T20 in Australia next year. While the team looks settled after series against West Indies and South Africa, the Men in Blues will ponder with the wicket-keeping position.

Rishabh Pant has failed to deliver after taking over as the first-choice wicket keeper batsman. MS Dhoni, who is in the twilight of his career, stepped out from three consecutive series after a poor World Cup campaign. There were speculations that Dhoni might retire after the World Cup but there are no reports of the same as of yet.

And now, as per reports in the IANS, the veteran wicket-keeper batsman has kept himself unavailable for a specific purpose. MS Dhoni is out of the team to give the management the required time to prepare viable options for the World T20.

Rishabh Pant has failed to live upto the expectation so far in the limited-overs. The management has also warned him to buckle up to retain his place in the playing XI. With Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan waiting in the wings for an opportunity, it is not long that the team will look behind Pant.

While question still lies on MS Dhoni donning the blue jersey again, but he may still be seen as a backup option if the team management fails to come up with a solution.
