Nagaland reach all India knockout stage
Nagaland U-16 cricket team has qualified for the Vijay Merchant Trophy All India Knockout Stage after winning their match against Meghalaya by 8 runs on Friday.
In the north east group, Nagaland team won 3 matches, lost 1 match and draw 1 match.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Nagaland players were bowled out for 113 in 42 overs with Sravan scoring 55 runs and Keduowhetuo contributing 20 runs to the team’s total. For Meghalaya, Nirdesh Baisoya bowled a deadly spell that saw him take all 10 wickets in an innings.
In the first innings, Meghalaya were also bowled out for 148 runs in 71.3 overs.
Nirdesh top scored the inning with 68 runs while Ayushman scored 24 runs.
For Nagaland, Keduowhetuo claimed 4 wickets while, Sravan and Rihan took 2 wickets each.
Nagaland failed to put up a big score in the second innings too as they were bowled out for just 111 in 53.2 overs. Savlin and Sravan scored 31 runs and 30 runs respectively.
For Meghalaya, Nirdesh once again claimed 5 wickets while Bharat took 4.
Despite chasing a low score, Meghalaya failed to reach the target as Nagaland bowler Keduowhetuo, who took 4 wickets in the first innings, once again wreaked havoc and claimed 5 wickets.
Meghalaya managed to score just 68 runs losing all wickets in 31.4 overs. Avinash and Nirdesh scored 19 runsand 17 runs respectively.
