The visitors England have brilliantly returned to the five-match T20I series against the hosts New Zealand after thrashing the home team in the fourth T20I of the series at Napier on Friday (8th November) evening. Dawid Malan and Eoin Morgan’s superior batting helped England to register their record T20I total and claim an easy victory.

After winning the toss, New Zealand decided to field first. The visiting side England lost their opener (8) very early but the other opener Tom Banton provided a good start.

With Dawid Malan, Banton put a 42-run partnership for the second wicket. After Banton lost his wicket on 31 runs, Malan and captain Eoin Morgan stormed on the hosts’ bowlers. They stretched that third partnership till the last over and created a world record in T20I history.

Dawid Malan hit a century and Eoin Morgan scored 91 runs

Malan and Morgan bashed the New Zealand bowlers and put the massive 182 runs partnership for the third wicket. It is the record third-wicket partnership in T20I history as the previous record 152 runs partnership between the England batsmen and Eoin Morgan (against Sri Lanka at Chattogram on 27th March 2014). Also, this 182 runs partnership was the third-highest T20 partnership for the third wicket and fourth highest T20I partnership for any wicket.

Both batsmen carried their remarkable batting even after completing their respective half-centuries and that too in a more dangerous way. Malan completed his century in 48 balls and became the second English cricketer to hit the T20I century. Alex Hales was the first English cricketer to achieve this feat (116* against Sri Lanka at Chattogram on 27th March 2014). Dawid Malan finally remained not out on 103 runs off just 51 balls (9 fours and 6 sixes).
