India vs South Africa 2019: 1st Test, Visakhapatnam – Match Report; India continues their blistering run in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. After outsmarting West Indies in their home ground, now, they knocked down the South Africa team at Visakhapatnam to take three outright victories in the tournament.
Initially, it was Virat Kohli, who won the toss, has elected to bat first on a nice wicket. Using the conditions, both the batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal knocked runs with ease as they found boundaries on a consistent basis.
Mayank Agarwal scored double:
Using the opportunity, Rohit Sharma smashed a stunning century to prove his mettle at the top of the order. They found it easy to smash balls all over the park with ease before Rohit Sharma being dismissed on 176, which was 1 run short to his previous best score in Test cricket. During the course, Mayank Agarwal was rock solid at the other end, who converted his maiden century into a double hundred. By doing so, he became the fourth Indian cricketer to convert his maiden century into a double century.
Rohit Sharma yet again scores a century:
Following the show from Indian batsmen on Day 2, it was the show from Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock that highlighted the day 3 of the Test match. Yet again on Day 4, the flamboyant batsman Rohit Sharma smashed yet another century at the opening slot before Cheteshwar Pujara and Jadeja having fun in the middle with their quick runs.
After starting the day with 117 runs trailing, the Indian bowlers removed the remaining couple of wickets in a flash to hand the advantage to the home side. Later, the wicket of Mayank Agarwal saw the game is firmly in the balance. Mohammed Shami picks 5-wicket haul:
At the end of the stumps on Day 4, Aiden Markram and Bruyn are at the crease with 3 and 5 respectively. Ravindra Jadeja picked one wicket while Ravichandran Ashwin was very economical. On Day 5, it was Mohammad Shami, who made things fall in place for India.
He knocked down South Africa’s top-order before rattling the lower order. Ravindra Jadeja also bagged 4 wickets. In the end, India won by 203 runs. The new opener of India Rohit Sharma collected man of the match for his stellar show.
