PCB CEO Wasim Khan announced that playing home games in UAE is “not an option anymore”. The objective is to down costs due to the “improved security” situation in Pakistan.

The UAE is where Pakistan have played their home games for sometime now. No Test team visited the country for a fully fledged tour since the terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.

“It costs us a lot of money hosting there,” he said.

“Frankly speaking the security situation has improved in Pakistan and security experts have also assessed that we are in a position to manage security risks while hosting teams in the country,” he added.

Since 2010 Pakistan have played all their major international home series in UAE.

A World XI side came to Pakistan in 2017 for a short T20 series. Also Sri Lanka played one T20I.

In 2018 they also hosted West Indies in three T20Is.

Khan maintains that Sri Lanka have not been paid any money to come to Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan also wanted Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to come and play their matches of the ICC Test Championship.

The PCB also wants to resume bilateral ties with India but the call has to be taken by the government.

“If they also express the desire to play against us we would be willing to even play at a neutral venue as it is important that India and Pakistan play cricket," he said.

“Cricket is a great way of bringing people together and cricket should remain cricket. We will play with India. I will be happy to explore possibilities of playing them,” he went on to say.
