PCB, SLC reschedule 2nd ODI after rain washes out series opener in Karachi
The decision comes after the series opening first ODI between the two nations at the National Stadium in Karachi was washed out without a ball bowled due to rain and wet outfield.
"Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) decided to reschedule the 2nd ODI," SLC said in a statement on Thursday evening.
The decision has been taken to give the ground staff enough time to make the surface fit for the upcoming matches as heavy rains have left it soggy. "The decision has been made, in order to allow the ground staff to prepare the Karachi National Stadium's outfield for next week's play, as heavy rains experienced during this week has left the outfield soggy," the statement further added.
PCB says that at least two complete days are needed to make the ground ready for play.
SLC further announced that a four-day match between Sri Lanka A and Bangladesh A in Hambantota has been shifted by a day due to bad weather. Thus, it will now be a three-day affair starting from September 29 instead of September 28 at the MRICS. "The latest change was done, as the pitch is not in due condition to start the match on the 27th, as bad weather experienced in the recent days affected the preparation of the pitch," SLC said..
