Polite yet savage: Twitter reacts after Anushka Sharma slams Farokh Engineer's 'selectors getting tea' remark
Anushka Sharma's decision of breaking her silence on the controversial remark made by former cricketer Farokh Engineer has been hailed by the Twitterati, who have come up with a series of memes and tweets embellishing the controversy on Thursday. Anushka was quick to slam Engineer's sensational claims level against the Bollywood actress of getting served tea by one of the Indian cricket team selectors during an ICC World Cup game. The 82-year-old former Indian cricketer was speaking to a newspaper when he took a jibe at the Indian five-member selection panel.
Engineer in his claims said that he saw one member of the MSK Prasad-led committee serving tea to Anushka during the recently concluded England and Wales spectacle. Ridiculing the credentials of the selection panel, the former veteran cricketer labelled Prasad and Co. as a Mickey Mouse committee and further questioned selectors' below-par qualification for the sacred post in the Indian cricket. "All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli’s wife) cups of tea. I feel people with the stature of Dilip Vengsarkar should be in the selection committee,” Engineer had said.
Rubbishing the bizarre remarks, an enraged Anushka took to her social media handle where she addressed the latest version of 'these ill-intended lies'. Anushka concluded her mic drop response to the absurd remarks by adding the fact on record that she prefers coffee over tea.

The social media post made by the wife of Indian captain Virat Kohli has become a trending discussion in the world of the internet. Twitter had a fielded day ever since the former Indian batsman became the hub of all controversy with his outrageous take on the Indian selectors.
Sharma also clarified another previous report where she was heavily criticized for being a part of Team India group picture. "I was asked to stand in a group photo by the High Commissioner's wife despite my hesitation to be in it and a huge issue was created over this blaming me for intentionally wanting to be part of it and the said event, even though I was invited for it," she said.
