Ranchi Test: SA 162 All Out, India Enforce Follow On
India enforced the follow-on after bowling out South Africa for 162 on day three of the third and final Test in Ranchi.
South Africa continued their bad run with the bat in the tournament as they were bundled out for 162 in the first innings in the second session of the third day. The Proteas had already lost two wickets in the last session of Day Two.
The third-wicket partnership between Zubayr Hamza and Temba Bavuma showed promise but the Proteas suffered a batting collapse. Hamza scored his maiden Test half-century. Temba Bavuma and debutant George Linde scored 32 and 37 respectively. Umesh Yadav took three wickets in the innings whereas Mohammed Shami, Shahbaz Nadeem, and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets each. Yadav also effected a run-out with a direct hit. Virat Kohli enforced the follow-on right away as the visitors still have a long trail to get rid of.
Brief scores: India 497/9 decl. South Africa 162 all out in 56.2 overs (Hamza 62; Umesh 3/40).
