Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has found himself under the scanner after their recent drubbing against a second-string Sri Lanka. The Men in Greens went down 3-0 in their first series at home after a long time. As Sarfaraz faces the heat, former cricketer Rashid Latif has advised him to take some time off from cricket.

The Pakistan skipper has been on the radar of the critics for quite some time now. Sarfaraz Ahmed had a horrid time in the World Cup as Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals. They were the most consistent team in the tournament and many questionned the intensity of the players.

Things turned more pale after Wednesday’s defeat against Sri Lanka, who came without their top players. Sarfaraz’s poor returns with the bat also took a toll on his confidence and are hurting the whole Pakistan team.

In the wake of it, Rashid Latif has urged Sarfaraz Ahmed to take some matches off to regain his form. But the former cricketer is sure that he won’t listen as this was the case with Kamran Akmal as well.

“When you are under pressure, then I believe one should avoid one or two games. This is the same thing I said to Kamran Akmal to take a rest for four, five months but no one wants to take the rest,” said Latif in a video.

Furthermore, Rashid Latif also criticised Sarfaraz Ahmed’s decision to move up in the batting order. The Pakistan skipper came up to bat at no 4 but managed to score only 17 runs leaving the team under dire pressure. He also pointed out that Sarfaraz was also missing the mark with his wicket-keeping, as a number of chances were dropped by him.

“Skipper Sarfaraz doesn’t seem confident at all, and is not doing well with the bat as well so going at number four was not a wise decision,” he concluded.
