Ravi Shastri Talks About MS Dhoni's Future, Says "He'll Go Down As One Of Our Greatest Players"(file image)

New Delhi: Former Indian Skipper MS Dhoni has not been on the field playing for India since India's exit from the World Cup on July 9, 2019. Dhoni was not part of the series against the West Indies. He even skipped the ongoing home series against South Africa as he opted for a sabbatical from cricket. Dhoni's fans and his critics desperately want to know his future plans and if he would make a comeback to cricket anytime soon, India coach Ravi Shastri said he hasn't met Dhoni after the World Cup but "that's for him to decide" if he wants to make a comeback.

Ravi Shastri, in an interview with The Hindu, when asked if the team has an open mind about MS Dhoni's return, said: "He will go down as one of our greatest players, very, very high up the list."

"Whether he wants to come back, that's for him to decide. I have not met him after the World Cup. He has to first start playing and let's see how things go," he added.

Dhoni, who was the captain when Indian team lifted 50-over World Cup and T20 World Cup trophies, is spending a gala time off-field.

Recently, Dhoni participated in a charity football match along with tennis star Leander Paes in Mumbai.

Dhoni had made himself unavailable for India's tour of the West Indies and took a two-month leave from cricket to serve his territorial army unit in Kashmir after the World Cup 2019, after which he was captured enjoying a game of billiards at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in his hometown of Ranchi.

Previously, the caption cool was seen driving his newly-bought Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, pictures of which had gone viral.
