Rishabh Pant Is India’s Solution To All Formats – Sourav Ganguly
Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly believes Rishabh Pant is the solution to India’s problems in all the three formats of the game. Pant has been under the scanner for his shot selection in the recent past and Ganguly believes he would get better with time and experience. The southpaw batsman has an aggressive style of batting and he needs to play according to situations.
Rishabh Pant has had a dream start to his Test career but he is yet to grab his opportunities in the white-ball format – which is his forte. Pant needs to work on his temperament and there is no doubt that he will get better with experience.
Pant will get better with experience.
Meanwhile, the combative batsman has let the team down on some occasion with his reckless shot-making and he has been in the thick of the action.
“There has been talk about Pant’s shot selection and rightly so but all must understand, he will learn and only get better,” Ganguly wrote in his column for The Times of India.
“He has a young batting unit under him and all of them will need a lot of support from the captain, at the top of the list will be Rishabh Pant. His entry into international cricket has been brilliant and for me, he is India’s solution for all the formats. He is a match-winner and a longterm bet for India,” the former India captain said.
On the other hand, the Prince of Kolkata gave credit to South Africa for bouncing back and leveling the series. South Africa was able to tick the right boxes whereas India was not able to read the conditions in the third T20I.
“India last played against Australia at home in T20 games and now against South Africa and the results have not been a happy one for them but that can happen in sport. One has to give credit to South Africa for their fightback to level the series in the third T20,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly believes that the onus will be on Virat Kohli on how he will lead his side. Kohli has been instrumental in the success of the team and he would like to lead from the front.
“The T20 World Cup is in Australia next year and it is quite natural that a lot of so called interested parties in cricket will jump up and down, passing their opinions and judgements about all that can happen. The key person amidst all this will be Virat Kohli and it will be important for him to stay calm for a long period of time,” Ganguly added.
The next T20 World Cup is in Australia and the Men in Blue would need to cease the crucial stages of the big matches.
