Team India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has failed to live up to the expectations batting at no four in the limited-overs. His poor returns have raised speculations over his place in the playing XI. But former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has urged to give the youngster time as he will get better with time.

Pant was the first choice wicket-keeper against West Indies and South Africa after MS Dhoni made himself unavailable. But the cricketer has been under a lot of criticisms after failing to put runs on the board. The team management looked at Pant as the no four option after the World Cup. But the Delhi-born cricketer managed to score only one half-century in West Indies and his poor run continued against South Africa.

There are speculations that either of Sanju Samson or Ishan Kishan might replace underfire Rishabh Pant in the limited-overs. But head coach Ravi Shastri has backed the struggling cricketer and now former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has also come to his rescue. Ganguly said that skipper Virat Kohli’s guidance can help Pant come out of the poor form.

“Virat’s guidance will see him through and that ultimately matters,” Ganguly wrote on TOI.

Furthermore, Sourav Ganguly also hailed Rishabh Pant as a world-class player and said that he is India’s solution across the formats. Ganguly, who has seen Pant from close quarters said that he will grow better with time.

“His (Pant’s) entry into international cricket has been brilliant and for me, he is India’s solution for all the formats. There has been talk about Pant’s shot selection and rightly so but all must understand, he will learn and only get better,” Ganguly concluded.

Meanwhile, it is likely that Rishabh Pant might lose his Test spot to Wriddhiman Saha for the South Africa Test starting from October 2 in Visakhapatnam.
