Rohit Sharma Becomes Most T20I Run-Scorer After Surpassing Virat Kohli’s Run Tally
It is the first T20I of the three-match T20I series between India and Bangladesh. In the absence of the Indian regular captain , Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian side in this home series.
Before this match, Rohit was seven runs short from the previous most T20I run-scorer Virat Kohli. While Kohli has scored 2,450 runs in 67 T20I innings, Rohit scored 2,443 T20I runs in 90 innings prior to this match.
In this game, Rohit lost his wicket in the very first over but he scored nine runs before losing his wicket. At the end of that innings, Rohit moved to the top spot of most T20I run-scorer table. He has now scored 2,452 runs in 91 T20I innings.

It is the 99th T20I for Rohit Sharma, which is also a record in Indian cricket history. By appearing in this game, Rohit broke ‘s 98 T20I appearances record and became India’s most-capped T20I player. Also, Rohit has equalled the record of former Pakistan all-rounder ‘s T20I appearance record. Afridi also played 99 T20Is. Now, only another Pakistan all-rounder has played more T20Is than Rohit and Afridi. Shoaib Malik has played 111 T20Is.

Coming to this game, India scored 148/6 (20 overs) in the first innings. Opener Shikhar Dhawan scored the highest runs in that innings which was 41 runs off 42 balls. Also, Shreyas Iyer (22) and Rishabh Pant (27) crossed the 20-run marks.
At the end of that innings, Krunal Pandya (15 not out off 8 balls) and Washington Sundar (14 not out off 5 balls) played some superb cameo roles.
