Rohit Sharma Can Have The Impact Virender Sehwag Had In Tests – Harbhajan Singh
Team India opener Rohit Sharma had a great start to his Test career as an opener in the first Test against South Africa. Although Rohit failed to replicate his efforts in the second Test, his teammate in Mumbai Indians Harbhajan Singh feels Rohit can have the same impact Virender Sehwag had at the top order.
Rohit made his return to the Test side with twin centuries in Visakhapatnam. The Mumbai-born cricketer scored 176 runs in the first innings to stitch a record-breaking 317 runs partnership with Mayank Agarwal. Rohit Sharma then backed it up with another century in the second innings.Harbhajan Singh. (Credits: Twitter)

However, Rohit failed to replicate his stellar show at the MCA Stadium in Pune. He got out to a brilliant outswinger from Kagiso Rabada. Despite that, Harbhajan Singh backed his Mumbai Indians teammate to have an impact that of Virender Sehwag at the top order in Test cricket.
“I don’t want to compare Rohit with anyone. But yes, Virender Sehwag had the biggest impact on the opposition. If you didn’t get Sehwag out, you would find him batting on 250 or 270 by the end of day’s play,” Harbhajan told India Today.Rohit Sharma. Credit: BCCI

“Rohit is no less and is more than capable of scoring big in a similar fashion. Rohit has a better technique (than Sehwag) and he could be even more dangerous. With Sehwag you knew he will go after you once he was set but with Rohit, he will play those shots that you would think he is not looking to play but will still hit you far enough,” he added.
Meanwhile, speaking about the game, India have got a good start after Virat Kohli opted to bat first in Pune. Despite losing Rohit Sharma early, Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara have the home side to an outstanding start.
India are currently at 132 for the loss of one wicket with Mayank batting at 71 alongside Pujara, who is batting at 37.
