Rohit Sharma-led India lost their first-ever T20I match versus Bangladesh in the series opener of the three-match series in New Delhi on Sunday (November 3). However, Rohit and Co. made amends and levelled the series with an impressive 8-wicket win in the second and penultimate game in Rajkot.

With the series in the balance ahead of the decider, at VCA Stadium, Nagpur, stand-in skipper Rohit addressed the media in the pre-match press conference and lavished praise on Yuzvendra Chahal for his consistency in white-ball format and leading the charge in the crucial middle overs in the ongoing series.

Rohit stated, "This is a very, very new unit. But Chahal, for the last two years, has been extremely consistent with how he has performed in white-ball cricket. Even in the ODI format, he has done extremely well for us. He bowled well in the IPL, and then his performance got recognised and he was picked for the Indian team in the ODI format. Since then, he’s been one of the important members of the squad, and he’s proved that in this series, how important he can be in the middle overs."

Chahal became a regular since India's 2017 Champions Trophy final loss. He, along with Kuldeep Yadav, replaced the pair of Ravindra Jadeja-Ravichandran Ashwin in limited-overs and cemented their spots for the 2019 World Cup. While Kuldeep was off colours in the showpiece event, Chahal was among wickets and returned with 12 wickets in 8 games.

Since then, Chahal has featured in a solitary ODI but has been on song in the India-Bangladesh T20Is. In two games, he has been Rohit's go-to-bowler and has picked up three scalps in the process. He needs only four more wickets to surpass Ashwin (52) and become India's leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game.

Will Chahal attain the special feat and lead India to a series win versus the Bangla Tigers on Sunday?
