Rohit Sharma Will Get Time And Space To Find His Rhythm – Virat Kohli
Team India will have a new opening pair when they come out against South Africa in the opening Test in Visakhapatnam on October 2 (Wednesday). Mumbai cricketer Rohit Sharma will open the innings alongside Mayank Agarwal. India skipper Virat Kohli said that Rohit will get adequate time to find his rhythm at the top-order.
Rohit replaced KL Rahul in the squad for the South Africa series after repeated failure from the Karnataka opener. There were speculations of Rohit Sharma opening the innings against the Proteas and the management has confirmed the same.
The swashbuckling opener in the limited-overs has so far batted in the middle-order in the red-ball cricket. Rohit will hope to emulate his top form in the Tests when he goes out to bat in Visakhapatnam. However, the start has not been great as he got out for a duck in the three-day warm-up game against South Africa.Virat Kohli. Credit: AP

But Virat Kohli confirmed that they are not in a hurry with Rohit Sharma. The India skipper also said that Rohit will get adequate time to find his rhythm at the top-order.
“We are in no hurry with Rohit Sharma as opener. He will be given time and space to find his rhythm and the way he wants to play at the top,” Kohli said at the pre-match press conference.
Rohit Sharma has so far played 27 Tests where he has amassed 1585 runs at an average of 39.62. He last played against Australia last year and had to return midway due to personal reasons. Rohit was in the squad against West Indies but didn’t get any game time. The upcoming Tests will be his final opportunity to cement his spot in red-ball cricket.
