Seema Purohit makes a mark in cricket
Anil Datt Ludhiana, November 3 City girl Seema Purohit has been performing consistently and has made a mark in cricket. A student of Class IX at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School, Dugri, Seema (14) took up the game last year and with her sheer determination, punctuality and hard work carved a niche for herself. Seema Purohit, top order batswoman and right-arm off spin bowler, joined ADS Cricket Academy under the guidance of Amandeep Singh, cricket coach and PCA panel umpire. She picked up the game quickly and attended the selection trials conducted by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association, an affiliated body of the Punjab Cricket Association, wherein Seema got selectors nod for the Ludhiana girls U-19 and senior womens teams to take part in the Punjab Cricket Championship. In the Punjab championship for senior women, held at Barnala, Seema excelled with bat and ball. She made important contributions in the matches against Patiala, Hoshiarpur and Muktsar. Seema then attended selection trials at Guru Nanak Public School, Birmi village, organised by the Punjab Education Department to pick up the district U-17 team , As Reported By Tribune.
According to the Newspaper,She was selected as an all-rounder and justified her selection. In the first match against Fatehgarh Sahib, Seema Purohit took a hat-trick and enabled her side restrict the opponents to a paltry total of 54 runs. Ludhiana won this match by 10 wickets. Seema bowled economically against Barnala to contain them to 44 runs and then remained unbeaten on 19 runs to steer her team wrap up the issue easily. Ludhiana played third match against Hoshairpur in which Seema bowled well as the latter were restricted to a small score of 65 runs in 15 overs. She chipped in with 20 runs to steer Ludhianas victory by six wickets. With three victories, Ludhiana secured a berth in the final for the first time and faced last years winners, Faridkot.
