The uncertainty surrounding the future of MS Dhoni is showing no signs of coming to an end. The former India skipper and the team-management has kept the entire cricketing fraternity in dark as far as the veteran wicketkeeper’s future is concerned. Speculations were rife that Dhoni would retire at the end of the World Cup.

However, the former India skipper left everyone surprised by not only deciding against retiring but also taking a two-month break. Consequently, he could not make it to the ODI or the T20I squads for the  tour of West Indies. And while everyone was expecting MS Dhoni to return to action in the series against South Africa, he made himself unavailable for that series too.

And latest media reports suggest that MS Dhoni will not be picked in the team for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh even if he makes himself unavailable. According to Mumbai Mirror, the selectors are keen to try out youngsters during the series. The report also adds that although Dhoni had made him unavailable for West Indies tour after World Cup, the selectors were set to keep him out of the squad.

The latest reports pretty much show that the selectors have finally decided to move on from Dhoni. Recently, BCCI’s President-elect Sourav Ganguly also said that he would talk to the selectors on October 24 to get clarity on Dhoni’s future. Dhoni is unlikely to return to the Indian team anytime soon but he is also unlikely to announce retirement.

The 38-year old is set to lead Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year and is only expected to take a call on his career after the next season of the league. India have tried out Rishabh Pant in Dhoni’s absence but have not tasted much success. The youngster is yet to make his mark in the white-ball formats.
