Bangladesh VS Afghanistan
Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of the Bangladesh cricket team turned around the game for Bangladesh by hitting Rashid Khan for a four and a six in an 18-run over. This left Bangladesh with needing just nine runs over the last two overs. Earlier in the game, Bangladesh had lost two of its openers which left them at 12 for 2. Shakib proved to be the pillar for the team as he entered the game and stroked two fours to end the Powerplay on 28 for 2. He added 58 runs for the third wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim survived in the tenth over when substitute Najeeb Tarakai dropped a catch on the leg side. However, Mushfiqur fell in the very next over.
Afghanistan's strong start
Afghanistan had a strong start to the match. The openers of the team put up a strong show for the audiences. Hazratullah Zazai struck Shafiul Islam two fours in the fourth over. He blasted Mahmudullah for two fours and a six in a 16-run over. Furthermore, they hit three more sixes in three more overs. Gurbaz then connected with a reverse sweep off Mosaddek for six, stretching the run rate. However, after the 75-run opening stand ended, Afghanistan lost their six next wickets for 39 runs. What majorly triggered the downfall was Hazratullah's wicket in the tenth over after he made 47 off 35 balls. Afghanistan managed to score only two fours in the 31 runs they scored in the last five overs. Afghanistan's loss to Bangladesh was very similar to the match against Zimbabwe to finish with a below-par total, losing wickets in the second-half after ensuring a strong start.
