New Delhi: Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh Test and T20I captain has been banned from all cricket by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for two years, with one year of that suspended, after "he accepted three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code".

According to the ICC, Shakib failed to report approaches for Bangladesh's tri-series with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in in January 2018 as well as the IPL later that year. He also failed to report a second approach in respect of the tri-series and Sunrisers Hyderabad's match against Kings XI Punjab on 26 April 2018.

Local media had reported, the all rounder was being kept away from practice ahead of the team's high-profile India tour on the ICC's instructions. Shakib was also not a part of the meeting to discuss the BCCI's proposal to make the second Test in Eden Garden a day-night Test.
