David Miller on Wednesday grabbed one of the best catches of 2019 with his breathtaking effort to dismiss Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan during the 2nd T20I between India and South Africa at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Miller’s catch was out of the top box and even Dhawan and his partner on the pitch Virat Kohli was left stunned after the South African pulled off the catch. Dhawan walked back to the hut with a wry smile on his face while Kohli just stared in amazement.

After the match, which India comfortably won by seven wickets – courtesy a Kohli masterclass, Dhawan revealed what he was feeling after Miller pulled off that breathtaking effort to dismiss him. The southpaw termed it as an ‘unbelievable catch’ while further revealing Kohli thought the same about the effort. The Indian opener further said that he smiled and appreciated Miller’s effort as the ball was struck hard and flat.

"It was an unbelievable catch and Virat was thinking that as well. I was smiling and appreciated his effort. It was hit hard, it wasn't lofted, it was hit flat and I took it in my stride,” Dhawan said at the post-match presentation.

While chasing the 150-run target, India were off to a flyer with openers Rohit Sharma and Dhawan taking the charge against the Proteas bowlers. While the Men in Blue lost Rohit soon after, Dhawan continued the onslaught before Miller bagged that catch to dismiss the 33-year-old.

“It was a good start for all of us. I was playing well, timing the ball well and enjoying myself. Great to get a winning start to the home season. We guys practice a lot at that pace. We are used to it now and that's why we can counter that pace in matches. It was great to see Rohit hit those sixes and it was a great feeling for me to hit boundaries," Dhawan said.

India will next face South Africa in the third and final T20I of the series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (September 22) as the Men in Blue eye a clean sweep against the Proteas in the shortest format of the game.
