Former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni hasn’t made himself available for cricket since the conclusion of . He hasn’t even clarified his cricket future yet. Due to his silence, his retirement speculation is rising with time progress.

Sourav Ganguly will officially take the BCCI President responsibility on 23rd October. On the very next day, he will meet the national selectors. During this meet, Ganguly will talk about Dhoni’s international future.


Ganguly said according to PTI, “I will find out from the selectors when I meet them on October 24. We will find out what the selectors are thinking and then I will put forth my opinion.”

Sourav Ganguly will also talk with MS Dhoni to take his opinion on his cricket future.


Ganguly added, “We will have to see what Dhoni wants. I will also speak to him what he wants to do and what he does not want to do.”

After the CWC 2019, there was the media speculation that Dhoni was ready to retire from international cricket. Dhoni’s continuous absence after that World Cup was raising that doubt for further. However, the BCCI has clarified that Dhoni has no plan to retire from cricket soon. But Dhoni is still far away to clarify this doubt.

Sourav Ganguly has no clear idea about Dhoni’s future in international cricket. But once he will take up the BCCI President role, he will work on it.

Ganguly claimed, “Since I was not in the picture, it maybe a case that it’s not clear with me as of now. Now will be in a position to find out and then will decide on the way forward.”

On 24th October, Sourav Ganguly will talk with the selectors and the captain . However, as per the new constitution, the Head Coach can’t present in that meeting.

The former Indian captain said, “During all this time, I was nowhere in picture. My first selection committee meeting will be on October 24. So I will ask the selectors and talk with the captain. Coach (Ravi Shastri) won’t be there as per the new Constitution.”

During this selection meeting on 24th October, the selection committee will also pick up the Deodhar Trophy 2019/20 squads. Deodhar Trophy 2019/20 is the domestic List A tournament that will run from 31st October and 4th November 2019 where India A, India B and India C will participate.
