Strikers spinner bowled over by boyfriend’s big surprise
Adelaide Strikers legspinner Amanda-Jade Wellington was completely bowled over when her boyfriend proposed in front of teammates and hundreds of cheering fans after her side’s convincing six-wicket win over Melbourne Renegades on Saturday.
As the team was celebrating its victory on Karen Rolton Oval and signing autographs for fans, — who has been dating Wellington for a little over a year — used the help of SACA staff to get the players together for what they all thought was a “team photo”.

Wellington said she had no idea what was going on when McKechnie appeared.
“When I saw him on the field, I just thought: ‘Get off, we’re trying to take a team photo’. I had no idea what was really happening, but I’m so happy, I’m still shaking,” she said.

McKechnie, 23, proposed using a Pokemon card with the words: “Will you marry me?” written on it, with the ring sitting in a ‘poke ball’.
Wellington, 22, didn’t think twice before saying yes.
