Suresh Raina Has His Say On MS Dhoni’s Future
Despite MS Dhoni taking a sabbatical from the game, the speculations over his future continues to be one of the biggest talking point. Speculations were rife that MS Dhoni would bring down curtains on his glorious career after the end of this year’s World Cup. The former India skipper had faced severe criticism during the tournament but decided against retiring.
He then left one and only surprised by taking a two-month break from the game. Consequently, he missed the tour of West Indies where India played three ODIs, three T20Is and three Tests. The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman then made himself for the just-concluded T20I series against South Africa. He will reportedly miss the series against Bangladesh too.
Amidst all these, the selectors and the team-management have not spoken much on MS Dhoni. Thus there is a huge confusion over MS Dhoni’s future. And now Dhoni’s close friend and out-of-favour batsman Suresh Raina has spoke on the veteran’s future. Raina said that his IPL teammate stated that the decision of retirement should be left to him.
“Only Dhoni will decide when he leaves the game,” Raina told Hindu when asked about his opinion on the matter.MS Dhoni (Credits: Twitter)

Speaking further, the southpaw said Dhoni should have been sent in earlier in the order in the World Cup semifinal against New Zealand.
“Had he come earlier, he could have guided Pant and then we still had Pandya and Jadeja. Even then he kept India in the fight till the very end and we would have won but for the direct hit from Guptill,” said Raina.
Suresh Raina was one of India’s most important players in ODIs and T20Is when Dhoni was leading the teams. The left-handed batsman was a vital part of the 2011 World Cup and the 2015 World Cup before missing the 2019 World Cup. He has not played for India since the tour of England last year.
