T-20 World Cup teams are fixed, see the full format and match schedules
All 16 teams are scheduled for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia next year. The final 6 teams were to be decided through the qualifier matches of the T20 World Cup being played in the UAE.
It is now fixed.
Teams from Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia, Oman, Scotland and Papua New Guinea (PNG) have also qualified for the T20 World Cup 2020.
This will be the tournament format
The first round of 8 teams will be played before the main round begins in the T20 World Cup. Apart from these 6 qualifier teams, it will also include Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. A total of 4 teams from this 8 teams will go to the main round i.e. Super-12. The place of 8 teams in Super-12 has already been decided.
This includes Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia, West Indies in Group-1 and India, South Africa, England and Afghanistan in Group-2.
The 8 teams of the first round are divided into 2 groups of 4–4 teams.
The first round of these 8 teams will start from 18 October 2020. Of these two groups, 2–2 teams will advance to the Super-12, with 8 teams already scheduled.
It will be followed by Super-12 from October 24. There are 2 groups of 6-6 'teams for the Super-12. Out of these 2 groups, 2–2 teams will advance to the semi-finals.
