India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal stated that there is no pressure from the management despite the team going 0-1 down in the ongoing series against Bangladesh. Chahal said that the opposition was better than them and they should give them credit for outplaying them.

Bangladesh had won the first T20I at Delhi by seven wickets and outplayed India in all the three departments of the game. Mushfiqur Rahim made the most of his experience as he scored a match-winning knock of 60 runs from 43 balls.

“The 11 that are playing now, and the players who are there in the 15-member squad they know their roles, it is not like someone is going out after playing one or two matches,” Chahal told reporters ahead of the second T20 International against Bangladesh.

On the other hand, the Indian team will like to pull up their socks in the second T20I. It will be a do or die situation for the -led side as it is a three-match series.

“A couple of matches can go wrong but there is no pressure from the management. The only thing is that we shouldn’t repeat the mistakes that we commit in any particular match.”

The leg-spinner had a good game in the first match as he picked up one wicket and conceded only 24 runs in his four overs. Chahal said that the team will look not to replicate the same mistakes they made in the first match.

“I think we are positive. It is not like we haven’t lost the first match of any series and didn’t go on to win the series. The first match is done, if you think about the last match then negatives will come into mind,” Chahal said.

“Before we came here, we have forgotten about that loss and we are making a fresh start and the entire 15 are focussed and positive, and hopefully, we will win tomorrow,” he added.

On the other hand, Chahal added that he looks to vary his pace on a slow pitch. Chahal was looking to exploit the conditions in Delhi and did a good job for the Indian team.

Chahal said, “Whenever I bowl, I vary the pace because otherwise, it becomes easy for the batsmen if you bowl at the same pace.

“The wicket was such that if you vary the pace it will get difficult for batsmen because the ball was turning, so you need to vary the length according to the batsman,” added the 29-year-old.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal also heaped praise on Bangladesh. Chahal added that the opposition was able to tick the right boxes and they have always given them a run for the money.

“We should appreciate them, they played really well. Bangladesh have given us a proper fight in the last couple of matches. They played really well, specially Mushfiqur (Rahim). The wicket was not easy for batting first but still, we had a decent score. Bangladesh saved their wickets and there were a few dropped catches but that is part of the game. I think Bangladesh bowled really well, especially when Shikhar (Dhawan) and Rishabh (Pant) were batting, Mahmudullah bowled with two off-spinners, it was a good move.”

India and Bangladesh will take on each other in the second T20I at Rajkot on the 7th November.
