Twitterati rips apart Vijay Shankar following his body transformation post
Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar was making the right noises ahead of the 2019 World Cup. Brought into the side during India's last few assignments prior to the showpiece event, Shankar made a mark with his heroics with the ball where he defended 11 off 6 deliveries in India's win over Australia in Nagpur, earlier this year, and even contributed with the willow with handy knocks.
As a result, he was selected in the 15-man squad for the 10-nation tournament. His selection led to Ambati Rayudu's non-selection for the showpiece event, despite being a regular at the No. 4 slot in the run-up to the mega event in England and Wales. Thus, his selection was met with mixed responses among the Indian team's avid fans.
Playing in a handful of games in the World Cup, Shankar couldn't manage to perform significantly and was ruled out with a toe injury, off Jasprit Bumrah's bowling, during a training session ahead of the knockouts. Hence, he was sidelined and has remained out of the national team ever since.
Recently, the 28-year-old shared a post from his official Twitter handle where he flaunted his chiselled body along with an old image; depicting his body transformation over the years. The post read as follows:
The sweat, the time, the devotion.— Vijay Shankar (@vijayshankar260) October 15, 2019
It pays off! #TransformationTuesdaypic.twitter.com/oSyNWvMmVJ
However, the tweet was met with negative responses from some sections of Twitter users. Some of the reactions are as follows:
So much efforts for removing the zipper?— Pranav. (@pranavkudav) October 16, 2019
Facial hair and clothing off are the only two differences one can make. You may have had a 6pack under that sweatshirt who knows ?— Dr. Mohammad Fahad (@_IAmDrFahad) October 15, 2019

World cup mein mushkil se 30 run banaye honge aur Chala body dikhane.— unknown (@unknownentity73) October 15, 2019
While Shankar's post didn't get the desired response, his transformation cannot be undermined. Currently representing Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 edition, the right-hander has played some good knocks to guide his side in crunch situations and will be eager to claim a spot back in Team India.
Team India are currently involved in the three-match Test series versus South Africa at home. With a 2-0 lead, Virat Kohli and Co. will look to whitewash the series. Their next assignment will be three T20Is versus Bangladesh, starting from November 3.
