Uttarakhand to host some matches of Men’s U-23 One Day Trophy
DEHRADUN: Some matches of the BCCI Men U-23 One Day Trophy will be played in Uttarakhand. The teams will be divided into four groups, namely A, B, C and Plate. Hosting rights of Group C , which consists of nine teams, including Uttarakhand, have been given to the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU).
Uttarakhand will be playing their first game against Haryana on November 1. Hosting rights of the quarter finals, which will be held from November 26 to December 1, have also been awarded to the CAU.
The CAU is yet to decide venues for the matches.
Last season, Uttarakhand was part of the Plate Group but was promoted to the Elite Group on the back of them being the group topper. Like the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the BCCI U-23 One Day Trophy will have the same qualifying format, where five teams from Group A and B will qualify for the next round. Two teams from Group C and one from the Plate Group will progress to the quarter finals.
Squad for Uttarakhand’s Men U-23 team is yet to be selected. Forms for the selection trials will be available till October 5. First, the district trials will take place from October 6 and the final trial will take place from October 12 to 14 in Haldwani.
