Vijay Hazare: Gujarat's dream shattered, Shahrukh Khan's fifty takes Tamil Nadu to final
In the second semi-final match of Vijay Hazare Trophy, Tamil Nadu managed to make it to the finals despite the rain. The Tamil Nadu team defeated Gujarat by 5 wickets in the second played at Cricket Academy Ground on Wednesday.
For Tamil Nadu, Shahrukh Khan scored an unbeaten knock of 56 and gave the team the place in the final. Now, in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019, Tamil Nadu will face Karnataka on Friday. Karnataka defeated Chhattisgarh by nine wickets in their first semi-final match and secured their place for the title match.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu won the toss and decided to bowl first. The match was reduced to 40 overs as the ground was wet. Batting first, Gujarat scored 177 runs for nine wickets, Dhruv Rawal contributed 40 and Axar Patel 37.
Mohammed took three wickets and one wicket each by Washington Sundar, N. Natarajan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Murugan Ashwin and Baba Aparajith for Tamil Nadu.
In reply, Tamil Nadu team did not had a good start and lost their five wickets by just 96 runs. But after this, Shahrukh Khan came to bat and gave and added 85 runs for the 6th wicket along the Washington Sundar and gave his team victory by scoring 56 runs off just 46 balls. Apart from him, captain Dinesh Karthik contributed 47 runs.
