Vijay Hazare Trophy: K Vignesh in the swing of things
CHENNAI: K Vignesh didn't have the best of seasons in 2018. Just days into the Vijay Hazare campaign last year, Vignesh suffered a Grade 1 tear on his left thigh. He featured in only three Ranji games and managed just 2 wickets. This year, Vignesh has started the domestic season on a positive note. He bagged figures of 3 for 34 in Tamil Nadu's Vijay Hazare campaign opener against hosts Rajasthan in Jaipur.
The 25-year-old followed that up by taking 5 for 41 against Services in his side's second game. “I am very happy with the way I have started off this season. I have been working mainly on my fitness and my skills in the last few months,” Vignesh told TOI. The injury notwithstanding, Vignesh has chosen not to cut down on his pace or rework on his bowling action. "I will never look to cut down on my pace as that's my strength. Also, I will not look to change my action,” said Vignesh.
Vignesh has been working closely with coach Jayakumar at his TNCA league side Jolly Rovers. "I have benefitted immensely by working with him,” said the pacer.
The TN pacer hopes Tamil Nadu capitalizes on the start it has got in the competition. "With two back to back victories, we are looking to carry on with this momentum. We have a good side and have the potential to go deep in the competition," said Vignesh. Tamil Nadu will next be taking on Bihar in Jaipur on Saturday.
