Vijay Hazare Trophy: Murali Vijay to replace Jagadeesan in TN's clash against J&K
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu team has been on a roll at the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy - registering four wins on the trot. Most of the TN batsmen and bowlers have showed glimpses of form during the course of the competition.
However, one area of concern for the Dinesh Karthik-led side has been the patchy form of N Jagadeesan. From three outings in the tournament, Jagadeesan has only managed 46 runs with a top-score of 24 against an ordinary Bihar attack.
"Jagadeesan is a top-quality player but he has looked scratchy and out of touch in the few chances he has got in the tournament. We will look to give him a breather in the next game," said a source close to the development.
The 23-year-old is set to make way for Murali Vijay in Tamil Nadu's upcoming clash against Jammu & Kashmir in Jaipur on Friday. The experienced Vijay joined the team earlier this week after completing his county commitments with Somerset.
The 35-year-old didn't have the best of stints with Somerset as he only accrued 42 runs from 5 innings. "Vijay may not have tasted much success in his county stint but he is a valuable player in these conditions for TN. He will start for us in the game against Jammu and Kashmir," added the source.
TN has enjoyed an unbeaten run in the competition. They kicked off their campaign with a win over hosts Rajasthan and have gone on to register convincing wins over Services, Bihar and Bengal.
