Vijay Shankar set to return for in-form Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu will be bolstered by the return of allrounder Vijay Shankar to the playing XI for their Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Bihar in Jaipur on Saturday. The 28-year-old had missed Tamil Nadu's opening two matches against Rajasthan and Services due to a thumb injury that he sustained during India A’s series against South Africa.
Shankar has fully recovered now and should strengthen the TN middle-order with his presence. Off-spinning allrounder Washington Sundar, though, is yet to join the camp after sustaining a niggle at the conclusion of India’s T20I series against South Africa.
Dinesh Karthik’s boys have had a great start to their campaign with two back-to-back wins and should make it a hat-trick against Bihar. The men from Bihar are situated at the bottom of Group C after a crushing defeat to Railways in their only game so far. They do not have any renowned names in their side and should find TN’s quality too difficult to handle.
For TN, Karthik has been in brilliant form with scores of 52* and 95 in the two games that they have played. With tougher assignments to follow after the Bihar game, Karthik will hope to continue getting the big scores and leading from the front.
Pacer K Vignesh has also played his part with the ball, taking eight wickets including a five-for in their last game against Services.
