Virat Kohli Is Agreeable To Day-Night Test Matches – Sourav Ganguly
The newly appointed BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has revealed that Indian captain Virat Kohli is agreeable to Day-Night Test. There have been some rumors doing the rounds that Kohli doesn’t want India to play Day-Night Test but Ganguly has confirmed that it is not the case. Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly has always put his weight behind Pink Ball cricket.
Ganguly believes that the future of Test cricket is going to be the Day-Night Test and Virat Kohli is on the same page as him. In fact, Ganguly had also supported Pink Ball cricket in Duleep Trophy. The former skipper believes it is crucial to keep together the longest format of the game. Moreover, Test cricket has been an endangered species after T20 cricket has taken an upward swing.Sourav Ganguly (Credits: Twitter)
Kohli is all in for Pink Ball Test.
Ganguly believes that it is difficult to attract crowds to Test cricket on weekdays. Hence, it makes all the sense to back the Day-Night Test. Meanwhile, India is yet to play their maiden pink-ball Test.
“We all are thinking about this. We will do something about this. I am a big believer of Day-Night Tests. Kohli is agreeable to it. I see a lot of reports in newspapers that he is not, but that is not true,” Ganguly was quoted as saying at his felicitation ceremony by IANS. The game needs to go forward and that is the way forward. People should finish work and come to watch champions play. I don’t know when that will happen, but it will,” the BCCI chief added.Credits – Twitter
On the other hand, the Indian captain Virat Kohlihad also suggested that there should be only five Test centers in a country. The Test matches should be played on these centers to promote the multi-day format.
India had decided not to play the Pink-Ball Test match when they had toured Australia in 2018. However, with Sourav Ganguly at the helm, one can expect that the world’s number one Test team will play a pink-ball Test match sooner than later.
