The Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the new opening Test batsman Rohit Sharma missed the practice session on Thursday at Ranchi. However, the head coach Ravi Shastri made sure other boys in the squad attend the practice session to get knowledge of the conditions of Ranchi pitch.

Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara hit net sessions:

However, both the individuals will not get any remark from the management, as it was just an optional practice session. Meanwhile, the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara sweat it out in the nets. It seems like the management is looking to horn the skills of Kuldeep, who batted well in the net session.

“I think wicket will spin. I looked at the pitch and it looks dry and crusty. So I think reverse swing and spin will play a factor in this Test match,” South African captain Faf du Plessis had said.

Meanwhile, Proteas trained in the morning session with a focus on their batsmen. South Africa’s training was attended by skipper Faf Du Plessis, Temba Bavuma, Theunis de Bruyn, Quinton de Kock, Senuran Muthuswamy as they faced the net bowlers.

Going into the match, the hosts are looking to complete a whitewash of the tourists, after emphatic victories in the first two clashes. Virat Kohli’s men took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with an innings victory in Pune to continue The Proteas’ misery.
