Virat Kohli Steers India Home with Another Majestic Innings Against South Africa: Fans Hail 'King Kohli' But Troll Rishabh Pant After Another Disappointment (See Memes & Tweets)
Virat Kohli played a captain’s knock to lead India to an emphatic victory against South Africa at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Kohli, 30, registered his 22nd T20I half-century and also reclaimed his position in the top of the T20I batting charts as the world’s highest Twenty20 run-scorer. But it was just not his batting, Kohli also earned a lot of praises from fans for his spectacular effort in the field. His catch, along with David Miller’s superhuman effort and Ravindra Jadeja’s stunning returning catch, was the talking point of the IND vs SA 2nd T20I game. But if Kohli, Miller and Jadeja garnered all the praises, Rishabh Pant once again fell at the wrong end after another disappointing outing. Kohli took a stunning one-handed catchto remove South African skipper Quinton de Kock (52) from the bowling of Navdeep Saini. De Kock, who steadied the South African innings after the early dismissal of Reeza Hendricks, was involved in a 60-run stand with Temba Bavuma. De Kock, looking to go big in the 12th over but only managed to sky it towards mid-off where Kohli grabbed a one-handed stunner. Like Kohli, David Miller also took a one-handed spectacular catch in the 12th over of the India innings. Miller’s stunning catch was to remove Shikhar Dhawan, who along with Kohli was taking India closer to victory. Dhawan, who was nearing his fifty, stepped out to smash Tabraiz Shamsi out of the park but couldn’t connect properly. But despite his poor connection, the ball seemed destined to go over the long-on boundary. But Miller appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the ball out of thin air. His catch left everyone, including Kohli and Dhawan astonished.

But while fans praised Kohli and Miller, they were left disappointed by Rishabh Pant. Pant was out for a five-ball four runs after attempting to smash debutant Fortuin out of the park only end up in offering a simple catch to Shasmi at short fine-leg. The 21-year-old, who has been criticised for swinging his bat at every delivery, showed another instance on immaturity. Pant left fans disappointed after once again trying to go big early into his innings.

Like Pant, Rohit Sharma, who a day later would celebrate his 12th anniversary as a Twenty20 international cricketer, also failed to score big. The “Hitman” of Indian cricket was out for a run-a-ball 12 on the eve of completing 12 years as a T20 international player.
