India defeated South Africa by an innings and 137 runs in the second Test at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Sunday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. South Africa were bundled out for 189 runs in their second innings after being asked to follow-on. Indian bowlers dominated the proceedings on the fourth day of the Test match wrapping-up a comfortable win for the hosts with a day to spare. With the win, Kohli achieved another captaincy milestone surpassing former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

India were on top of their game throughout the second Test and never late South Africa take control after captain Kohli led the way with a magnificent double century in the first innings. Kohli's brilliant 254* and Mayank Agarwal's 108 powered India to a big total of 601 runs in their first innings before the bowlers took over. South Africa were twice bundled out for 275 and 189 respectively in their two innings handing India a massive victory.

While India created history by creating a new world record for most consecutive Test series wins at home (11) surpassing Australia's tally of 10, Kohli recorded his eighth Test win by an innings as captain. He now has the joint-second most Test victories by the margin of an innings with Mohammad Azharuddin and one more than Ganguly, who had seven Test wins by a margin of innings as captain. MS Dhoni still holds the record for most Test wins by an innings with nine under his name.

The victory by an innings and 137 runs in Pune is India's biggest win over South Africa in Tests. Kohli also became the first Indian captain to enforce a follow-on on South Africa. He completed his 50 Test matches as captains on Sunday and has 30 wins so far - the third-most by any captain in their first 50 Test matches. He is only behind Australian greats Steve Waugh (37) and Ricky Ponting (35) in the list.

India had earlier defeated South Africa by 203 runs in the opener in Vizag to take 1-0 lead in the series. India have now extended their unbeaten run in the World Test Championship tp four games with four wins in a row as the Kohli-led side continue to remain on top of the points table with 200 points already. The third Test between India and South Africa will be played at the JSCA Cricket Stadium in Ranchi starting from October 19th.
