The new BCCI president and former captain Sourav Ganguly has backed Virat Kohli to lead India in all the three formats.

In an interview with Hindustan Times Ganguly said on the split captaincy, “I don’t think that is required to be even discussed now."

There has been a talk about the need to introduce split captaincy to reduce the workload of Virat Kohli and also give the leadership role to Rohit Sharma in the limited-overs cricket. The chorus to give Rohit the captaincy only grew after India's semifinal exit at the World Cup.

Rohit Sharma has a better win percentage than Virat Kohli, both international cricket and the Indian premier League. Kohli has been leading the team from the last few years after he took over the reigns from MS Dhoni.

In Virat Kohli captaincy, India lost the 2017 Champions Trophy final to Pakistan, and were also eliminated in the semifinals during this year's World Cup.

Currently, Kohli is taking a break and in his absence Rohit Sharma is leading the team during the ongoing T20 series against Bangladesh.
