At the sidelines of Road Safety World Series league T20 tournament, Sehwag said it is now his chance to thrash Bret Lee’s bowling, which he couldn’t at the peak of his career.

“I am really excited to get a chance again to open the innings with Tendulkar. Also excited to face Brett Lee. He [Lee] may have not experienced that big-hitting when he was at his peak, but now this is a chance for me to thrash him. successful,” Sehwag told mid-day.

Lee was a part of Australia squad that used to dominate every team, irrespective of format and venue. The domination was such that they won three successive World Cups  – in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

Finally, the Indian team brought an end to their winning camp at World Cup 2011 when the MS Dhoni-led side defeated the Kangaroos in the quarter-final.

World cup 2011 was also the final last 50-over ICC tournament for both Lee and Sehwag. The on-field rivalry between the two stars will again be on display next year and it remains to be seen if Sehwag will be able to get past the speedster.

The T20 tournament will be played in Mumbai from February 4 to 16 next year. Apart from Sehwag, Tendulkar and Lee, former stalwarts Brian Lara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Jonty Rhodes and others will also be part of the tournament.

Lara, the former West Indies captain, retired from the game in 2007, paying his final match in the Caribbean at World Cup against England.

Dilshan, the former Sri Lanka all-rounder, played his final international match in the T20I series against Australia at home while Rhodes’ previous international appearance came at World Cup 2003 against Kenya.
