Sehwag’s former teammate VVS Laxman posted a message on his Twitter account with a picture of both of them together.

“Special birthday wishes to a special friend ⁦@virendersehwag⁩ May your birthday be sprinkled with fun and laughter. Have a great day and year ahead Bratha (sic),” Laxman tweeted on Sunday morning.

The official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wrote, “Happy Birthday Mr. Triple Centurion @virendersehwag” along with the video of Sehwag celebrating his second triple century in Test cricket, against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.

In 2004, Sehwag became the first Indian batsman in Test history to score a triple ton. He achieved the feat against Pakistan in Multan. He scored 309. Four years later, in Chennai, he scored his highest Test score of 319, which is also India’s highest individual score in the five-day format.

Sehwag made his international debut in April 1999 in an ODI in Mohali, against Pakistan. His entrance to Test cricket was in 2001 against South Africa in Bloemfontein where he celebrated his debut with a century.

During his illustrious international career, Sehwag played 104 Tests, 251 ODIs and 19 T20Is. He was part of India’s World T20 2007 and 2011 World Cup winning squads.

Sehwag was the man who redefined opening batting in Test cricket. He was the man who preferred to attack from the first ball. He played the five-day format like the limited-overs ones. He ended his Test career with a strike rate of 82.23, scoring 8,586 runs with 23 hundreds and 32 fifties.

In ODIs, he accumulated 8,273 runs at a strike rate of 104.33. He hit 15 hundreds and 38 half centuries in 50-over internationals.

After his retirement, Sehwag has been involved in TV commentary, mentoring Indian Premier League (IPL) teams. He continues to entertain fans with his tweets.

MyNation joins cricket fans in wishing Virender Sehwag a very happy birthday.
