Warnie on the money as stars fall

A weekend prediction from cricket legend Shane Warne that Riley Meredith is one to watch this summer paid off immediately as the Tasmanian bowler removed both David Warner and Steve Smith in today’s one-dayer against NSW.
Warner skied a mis-hit pull shot which dropped in to Meredith’s hands around the bowling crease for a caught and bowled after making just four runs from 12 deliveries.
Smith at least hit a couple of boundaries but also fell in single figures (9 off 6) when he clipped a delivery off his pads, straight to Simon Milenko at square leg.

Meredith finished his opening spell with figures of 2/27 off five overs as opener Daniel Hughes and No. 5 Matthew Gilkes steadied the ship for the Blues.
The Hobart quick is only 23 but should already be on the radar of national selectors in Warne’s opinion. His domestic statistics don’t jump off the page but with the ability to regularly top 140km/h, there’s plenty to work with.
Two names to watch out for are Riley Meredith & Josh Philippe this Oz summer. I was hoping the selectors would’ve picked them for the World Cup that’s just finished - but it wasn’t to be. They will shine this and play for Aust ! Wish I could pick them for #TheHundredDraft— Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) October 20, 2019
Riley Meredith's star is rising quickly. Australia's next ODI gig is the Indian trip in January. I wonder...— Rick Eyre on cricket (@rickeyrecricket) October 22, 2019
