Watch – Virat Kohli Breaks The Timber In Anger In Mohali
A masterclass from India skipper Virat Kohli guided the host to a seven-wicket win over South Africa in the second T20I in Mohali on September 18. The Men in Blues have taken an unassailable 1-0 lead with only one match to follow.
After losing Reeza Hendricks for single figures, Quinton de Kock, playing his first game as captain, added 57 in partnership with Temba Bavuma to establish a strong position. South Africa cruised onto 87 for one after 11 overs looking good to post a towering total.
However, the last nine overs brought just 62 runs as India restricted their opponents well. Deepak Chahar claimed the important wickets of Bavuma and Hendricks making up his 2/22. But India’s was a combined effort – only Navdeep Saini went at over eight runs an over helped them to restrict to moderate total.Virat Kohli. Credit: BCCI

In the chase, India got off to a fast start – smashing 30 in the first three overs. South Africa got the first impetus when Andile Phehlukwayo trapped Rohit in front which brought Virat Kohli in the middle. Kohli looked at his best from the onset and showed signs of taking India home safely.
India lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant in a span of 10 runs, but Virat Kohli always had control over the game. He showed his chasing prowess taking his team home with an over and seven wickets to spare.
