WATCH: Biryani behind Mohammed Shami's lethal pace? Rohit Sharma stumps reporter with hilarious response
Rohit Sharma's witty responses in press conferences often leave the reporters in splits. The Hitman's latest gem came after India's emphatic 203-run win over South Africa in the first Test of the ongoing three-match series in Vizag. Rohit was asked about Mohammed Shami's fine performance with the ball on the final fifth day of the game and he had a hilarious response.
Shami was the destructor-in-chief for India on the final day of the 1st Test as he wreaked havoc with the ball on the South African batting line-up picking up a five-wicket haul. He dismissed Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, Dane Piedt and Kagiso Rabada to finish with excellent figures of 5/35 in his 10.5 overs. Chasing a hefty target of 395 runs, South Africa were bundled out for 191 runs in their second innings as India went on top with a 1-0 lead in the series.
In the post-match press conference, Rohit was asked about Shami's brilliance and the reason behind the pacer's consistent pace and good yorkers. The Hitman said a fresh Shami is always dangerous while also revealing the pacer's love for Biryani. "We all know when Shami is fresh what he can do. Along with some Biryani," said Rohit as the reporters burst out in laughter.
