WATCH: Fan breaches security to touch Quinton de Kock's feet in Ranchi Test, forgets slippers behind
The cricket fandom in India is unparalleled and cricketers enjoy a massive fan following across the country. While there have been several instances, over the years, when fans have managed to sneak past security and enter the ground at stadiums to meet their favourite Indian players, something similar happened with South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock during the ongoing third Test in Ranchi.
A fan managed top breach security at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi to touch the feet of De Kock, who was left surprised in the middle. However, the security staff were quick to intervene as they grabbed hold of the fan and took him away from the cricketer. In the process, the fan forgot his slippers behind and De Kock was seen throwing it back to him as he was being carried out.
Indian batsmen once again dominated the proceedings on the second day of the Test match with Rohit Sharma continuing his record-breaking run. Resuming from 117, Rohit went on to notch up his maiden double century in Tests enroute to a stellar knock of 212 runs off 255 balls laced with 28 fours and six sixes. He became only the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to score a double hundred in both ODIs and Tests.
While Rohit looked in his elements with the willow, Ajinkya Rahane played brilliant support and scored his eleventh Test century enroute to his 115-run knock. Ravindra Jadeja then slammed a fifty before Umesh Yadav played a sensational cameo of 10-ball 31 to power India to a huge total of 497/9. Kohli decided to declare the innings before tea and the decision paid off well as Yadav and Shami picked up a wicket apiece to reduce South Africa to 2/9 inside five overs before stumps.
India will look to capitalise on the good start from the bowlers to bundle out South Africa as early as possible and further strengthen chances of winning the game.
