Watch: Three Pakistan Players Fail To Stop Ball As Sri Lanka Get Five Bonus Runs
Pakistan cricket has always struggled with their fielding level. While the Asian giants never run out of quality batsmen or bowlers, quality fielders have always been a rare commodity for them. More often than not, the Pakistani fielders look vulnerable on the field. And an incident that took place during their ODI against Sri Lanka in Karachi pretty much sums up the fielding standards of Pakistan.
The incident took place in the 19th over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Shadab Khan was bowling. On the fifth delivery of the over, Shadab bowled one down the leg side to Danushka Gunathilaka. The Sri Lanka opener tucked the ball towards mid-off and set off for a single straightaway. There was a hesitation between Gunathilaka and his partner but they eventually decided to take the run.
In the meantime, Iftikhar Ahmed ran around and collected the ball in time. He had the chance to put the Sri Lankan batsman in trouble but he ended up firing a wayward throw keeper’s end. The wicketkeeper failed to collect the ball and so did the point fielder. It looked like Usman Shenwari would stop the ball near the boundary but he too made a mess of it as the ball passed through his legs and crossed the ropes.
Here are a couple of clips of the incident:

The fielding mistake, meanwhile, did not cost Pakistan much as they won the third ODI by five wickets to seal the series 2-0. Gunathilaka’s century helped Sri Lanka put up a challenging 297 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan reached their target in 48.2 overs. Fakhar Zaman led the way with 76 while fellow opener Abid Ali scored 74 and Haris Sohail 56.
