We'll make strong comeback: Rassie van der Dussen
BENGALURU: South Africa’s T20 vice-captain Rassie van der Dussen believes if the Proteas play the traditional way of cricket the results might come in their favour. He also said the younger players should stand up and perform for their team.
Despite having a decent start, Proteas’ batting derailed in the second game in Mohali. Rassie rued their batting collapse, but hopeful of turning things around. “It was a bit disappointing for us. We started off so well, despite losing the toss. We were 79-1 in 10 overs. So it was a perfect platform for likes of myself, David Miller, Pretorius to come in and do some damage at the back. Credit must go to India and the way they bowled in that final 10 overs,” he said
Rassie was confident of a better show in the final T20 match. The highlight of his statement was of playing traditional South African style of cricket and not stepping back. “We are coming here to win in the traditional South African way. We play hard, even though we have young players in our squad, we not going to stand back to anyone. That’s the emphasis, even if results are going on your way or not. Sometimes on the day, you’re not sure what going to happen. We knew it’s going to be tough, India is one of the strongest team in the world.”
“Virat and Rohit are the two leading run-scorers at the moment in the international T20s. It’s a great challenge for young bowlers coming here for the bowl to those type of guy. We know what challenge is all, there is a lot of challenges coming to India and we are honest to ourselves and saying that if we are going to win, we have to be our best to nullify these types of players. We got Rohit early other night, Shikhar played well though again we didn’t have a score to put pressure on him and Virat and the partnership were massive. Come tomorrow we can play to execute our plans and get in the situation so that we can put those guys in pressure” Rassie said on the challenges the trio of Shikhar, Virat and Rohit poses to their bowling line-up.
