Wet outfield abandons Uttarakhand-Chandigarh match
DEHRADUN: The Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Uttarakhand and Chandigarh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday came to an abrupt halt due to wet outfield after just a delivery being bowled in the entire match.
The overnight rain had left the outfield in a poor condition due to which umpires had to call off the game in spite of no major rainfall taking place in the afternoon. The match had a unique distinction as Chandigarh was taking part in the domestic cricket competition for the first time in history.
Uttarakhand’s second game of the tournament will be against Assam at the same venue on Friday. In the second match of the day, Puducherry defeated Meghalaya by four wickets in a rain-affected encounter at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy Ground.
