What Mithali, Jhulan & Punam have done for women’s cricket is inspiring: Yusuf Pathan
For almost one month, the Indian women’s cricket team has been in Gujarat, first playing a T20 international series against South Africa in Surat, before moving to Vadodara for a three-match ODI series against the same opponents. Naturally, they have been missing home during the festive season, and were craving for homemade food. And recently, allrounder Yusuf Pathan fulfilled that wish for Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and Punam Raut, who visited the Pathan household and had a memorable dining experience. Yusuf, Punam and Mithali later tweeted about it as well, with the girls praising the hospitality and expressing their delight on having ‘ghar ka khana’ after a month.
Talking to us, Yusuf shares, “We have known Mithali and Jhulan for a very long time, and I am glad that they came home along with Punam and enjoyed the hospitality. What these girls have done for women’s cricket in India is truly inspiring, and I am delighted to see that more people are taking a keen interest in women’s cricket. Mithali recently completed 20 years in international cricket, and we are running out of adjectives to describe her achievements. They really loved the food and it was a delight to host them.”
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies were prepared during the evening, with the mutton biryani, which has been praised by several cricketers who have dined at the Pathan household in the past, being a major highlight.
