Wriddhiman Saha Set To Deal Major Blow To Rishabh Pant
The last year was nothing less than a nightmare for Wriddhiman Saha. He was an automatic choice in the Indian Test playing eleven before an injury saw him fall down in the pecking order. He played in the Cape Town Test before an injury ruled him out of the remainder of the series in South Africa.
During the Indian Premier League, Wriddhiman Saha suffered a thumb injury that kept him out of the tournament’s final as well as the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June. It was later discovered that Saha was carrying a shoulder injury that ruled him out of contention for the tour of England.
Later, he had to undergo a surgery in Manchester and missed the tour of Australia too. And during his absence, Rishabh Pant made the most of the opportunity. The youngster made his debut in England and made an instant impression by scoring a century in the final match of the series. He scored two fifties against West Indies at home before scoring another ton in Australia.

Wriddhiman Saha finally returned to the team during the tour of West Indies but as expected warmed the bench while Pant played as the wicketkeeper. However, if reports are to be believed then Wriddhiman Saha is finally set to bring an end to his barren run in international cricket. According to Mumbai Mirror, the team-management will prefer him ahead of Pant in the upcoming series against South Africa.
The report claimed that the team will prefer the experienced campaigner because of tough conditions at home. With Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja set to operate in tandem on the spinning tracks, Wriddhiman Saha will be picked ahead of Pant who has not looked very comfortable in the wicketkeeping gloves.
India, meanwhile, will miss Jasprit Bumrah in the series. The pace spearhead is out of the series after suffering a stress fracture in his back. Umesh Yadav has replaced him in the squad.
